We are part of the Church of England in the Diocese of Carlisle.
In response to the Corona virus, there are currently no Sunday services at St George’s Church or St Aidan’s Church in Barrow.
There are various processes and risk assessments which we need to undertake with the Diocese, before we can begin planning our phased re-opening. We do not expect regular services to resume until August at the earliest, and will announce plans as soon as they are made. There is a high level of anxiety among many in the congregation, and we would rather do things slowly and do them well.
We are using Facebook as the primary communication channel during this period. If you haven’t already, please take a moment to ‘Like’ our Facebook page, using the link below:
While church buildings remain closed, we are producing a weekly video, available to view from 9.30am each Sunday.
This must be a distressing and confusing time for many. We encourage and urge you all to pray and worship often, on your own, with members of your household if that’s appropriate, with friends by phone, social media and other means.
We also encourage you to keep an eye on your neighbours and those around. If you possibly can, please donate to the Foodbank and to other organisations helping the most desperate and most vulnerable.
